The After-School Program is open to students in grades K-8 and provides an environment that is non-denominational and faith-based, safe, and comfortable; where students learn to respect themselves and others; where they rise to the challenge of being their best self; where they can develop mentally, socially, emotionally, spiritually, and physically while having fun and getting their work done.

The program operates daily throughout the school year allowing children to complete their homework, develop social skills, improve study habits, enjoy experiences with arts and crafts, drama, music, and technology. There are opportunities to interact and play cooperatively with a variety of games and activities provided within the Community Center  or in the ample outdoor space nearby including a basketball court and playground area.

IMG_9494Field trips to various venues are provided.  Such opportunities as sporting events and activities at nearby Robert Morris University, swimming at the Sewickley YMCA, theater performances at Our Lady of Sacred Heart High School, horseback riding, hay rides and fishing at Youthtowne are all offered free of charge. These outings provide additional learning experiences that carry over to the classroom and enable the children to gain new perspectives.

The After School Program is also focused on literacy, providing daily activities to strengthen reading skills, and reading resources.  Through partnerships and programs, MNP also educates students about healthy life choices and offers experiences in the Mooncrest Community Garden as well as wellness programs.
